Welcome to my website! I’m glad you dropped by.
My goal is to create a website that becomes a practical resource for tax tips and other guidance regarding estate planning and related topics. I hope that this site will also generate some lively conversation about estate planning and the challenges and opportunities it poses for individuals and small businesses.
To facilitate more animated discussion, there is no requirement that you register or log in to the site to post or reply to comments.
While the emphasis of this site may be on tax issues, estate planning necessarily involves considerations other than taxes. Thus, there will certainly be blog posts and other resources discussing Wills, the wide array of specialized trusts in common use today, and such diverse topics as guardianship, ownership of foreign bank accounts, and retirement planning.
I hope you’ll stick around and join us.
LEGAL NOTICES
I am a New York Attorney.
I am licensed to practice law in the State of New York only. Thus, with limited exceptions, if you wish to retain my services, you must reside in New York or your particular matter must involve Federal law or New York law or property.
Legal Advertising
This website constitutes Legal Advertising within the meaning of the ethical rules governing the practice of law in the State of New York. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
Circular 230 Notice
IRS CIRCULAR 230 DISCLOSURE: TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS IMPOSED BY THE IRS, I AM OBLIGATED TO INFORM YOU THAT ANY TAX ADVICE CONTAINED ON THIS WEBSITE (INCLUDING ANY BLOG POSTS, ARTICLES OR COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN US) IS NOT INTENDED OR WRITTEN TO BE USED, AND CANNOT BE USED, FOR THE PURPOSE OF (I) AVOIDING TAX-RELATED PENALTIES UNDER THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE, OR (II) PROMOTING, MARKETING, OR RECOMMENDING TO ANOTHER PARTY ANY TAX-RELATED MATTER ON THIS WEBSITE.
No Legal Advice
This website is intended to provide useful (and hopefully entertaining!) information about estate planning and related matters. I do not render legal advice on my website. Although there will be ample discussion of state and federal law, I will not stretch to apply the law to your particular circumstances, of which I may be unaware. You are not entitled to rely on my statements as legal advice unless we have expressly agreed to establish an attorney-client relationship in a written retainer agreement. In that case, any emails about your matter and any exchange of documents or drafts between us will take place in a secure client Web portal or by other means designed to ensure the confidentiality of our communications and your documents. Additionally, we can meet at my primary business address or in any of the several conference rooms across Manhattan to which I have access. We can also meet virtually via Internet conferencing applications.
No Attorney-Client Relationship
Participating in website discussions, even if there are exchanges between you and me, does not create an attorney-client relationship between us. If you wish to retain my services, and I agree to represent you, a written retainer agreement will establish that we are acting as attorney and client. The agreement will also set forth the specific services you have retained me to perform. Any emails about your matter and any exchange of documents or drafts between us will take place in a secure client Web portal or by other means designed to ensure the confidentiality of our communications and your documents. Additionally, we can meet at my primary business address or in any of the several conference rooms across Manhattan to which I have access. We can also meet virtually via Internet conferencing applications.
